There are Five telecom companies that provide mobile connectivity in Indonesia: Telkomsel, XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredoo, Tri, and Internux. When visiting major cities, all of them are mostly usable. Telkomsel is the biggest mobile provider in Indonesia, followed by XL Axiata and Indosat Ooredoo. The price of SIM Card is mostly the same everywhere, but local store tends to sell unique numbers at higher price (but you can bargain with the seller).

Where to Get The Sim Card?

Although there are local stores that also sell pre-paid SIM Card, it is suggested to purchase the SIM Card from the following:

  • Soekarno Hatta Airport
Telkomsel SIM Card is available in GraPARI (offical store). The location is on Terminal 3 Arrival, Ground Floor / near 5th Exit.
  • Minimarkets
Most minimarkets sell pre-paid SIM Card, e.g.: Indomaret, Alfamart, Family Mart

Which Sim Card to Choose?

The credit injected to a pre-paid SIM card is like a deposit payment. Mobile provider will deduct the amount based on the usage. For internet, it is suggested to purchase internet package, otherwise it will drain your credit like vacuum cleaner.
